On the 24 May 2024 in the Mulitaka District of the Enga Province there was a landslide which has claimed upward of 160 lives. The recovery effort is slow with people limited to the use of shovels and sticks as heavy machinery is unable to operate on the still unsteady ground.
We would like to thank everyone who has reached out to us in support. While we are fortunate that no one we know is impacted this still hits very close to home. In starting Enga Coffee, Takura, had a vision to help first local families, then the region, then the province. We do not know them but they are our brothers, our sisters and our children.
Enga Coffee will be donating what we can to the people directly affected. We know how hard things are with the cost of living and your words of support are plenty but for those interested in donating we have created a link below. All donations will go entirely to those affected and literally any amount is an enormous help.
All my thanks,
Malcolm

“I saw a man digging himself beside a huge rock trying to find his wife, son and daughter all buried inside. He managed escape because he was sleeping in another house which got partly damaged. On Thursday night in a dream his wife and children appeared and told him that they were buried under the huge rock so the man was digging here alone when I arrived.”
